A reinforced concrete multi-storey commercial development on the edge of Nottingham, next to an existing 1 m diameter underground water main, to be supported on precast concrete driven piles. The supervising engineers and local authority asked DFS for expert advice on piling-induced vibration.
Our technical report estimated vibration levels at the water main for selected piling points, compared them with allowable limits in current codes, and recommended safe distances, pre-construction trials and a vibration monitoring scheme.
